Fall from heights is a leading cause of injuries while working on the heights. The equipments like ladder, scaffolds and roofs are potentially involves accidents especially in construction industry.Safety Training Canada Fall Protection Certification course enables the employees to carry out operations safely and prevent the fall incidents thus minimising the injuries. During the training program, knowledge is imparted on the various safety equipment, their proper use their maintenance.
There are number of work environments which needs to train its employees against the falls incidents like construction,electricals,maintenance work and some service providers. Compliance
The Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Reg. 851, section 85 states that; “Where a worker is exposed to the hazard of falling and the surface to which he or she might fall is more than three metres below the position where he or she is situated:
- The worker must wear a properly maintained safety belt or harness with a lifeline securely attached to a fixed support, ensuring that any free fall does not exceed 1.5 metres.
- The fall arresting system described in clause (a) shall,
- Must be capable of withstanding twice the energy and load that could be applied to it under normal working conditions, and
- Must include a shock absorber or similar device to ensure the maximum arresting force on the wearer does not exceed 8.0 kilonewtons.
